Day 7
I decided to embark on a reading deprivation because I could no longer hear my voice in all the beautiful noise of other people's words. I needed to put my book (and phone) down and pick up my pen. I needed to share my words and ignore the voice that whispers so and so is better at being funny/charming/vulnerable/insightful. (Maybe they’re better because they practice their art.)
I don’t have anything super profound to say about my experience, but I will say this: I’m proud of myself. I did what I most wanted to do—write!
And went sledding, daydreamed, painted…
According to Chloe, I won’t finish this paint by number until March 3rd. I’m going to prove her wrong!
I’m back to reading tomorrow afternoon.
It’s going to feel so good.
Do you have any questions about my reading deprivation? Would you ever try it?
You did it! Proud of you!!
I love your reflections on this! I had never heard of a reading deprivation before, but I am intrigued and curious what it would look like to take reading others’ words off the table for a little bit. I have an instant reaction that says “But what would I do!?!?” 🤣
