Laura, I LOVE the way you captured this trip!! So simple, yet your breathtaking words and photos make me feel as if I’m right there smelling the croissants and tulips and cappuccinos ;) Thanks for sharing!!
WOW! I would heart this a thousand times. What an incredible trip. Also, your hair in that last photo looks fabulous!!
I'm also curious--what did you arrange for your daughter while you were gone? I dream about going on a trip like this with Robert but it's hard to imagine being away from Zadie for so long--or who could watch her for so long (I think the longest we've done is 4 nights...)
Thank you, Joy! I think three nights is the longest I’ve been away, but maybe four. Chloe was with my parents the whole time. My mom came to our house for a couple of days because we left on a Thursday and Chloe was in school, but then she spent the rest of the time at my parents house in Virginia (an hour away). We were away for her ninth birthday. 😬 My sister and her husband took a day off work and drove 3 hrs to celebrate Chloe on her birthday. It was really sweet. They went to a climbing gym and later in the week my parents took Chloe to see Annie on Broadway. We texted every day and video chatted at least every other day, sometimes more often. But we weren’t in constant communication. I was very ready to see her again, but I also LOVED the complete break from being responsible for another human being!
Also, my rockstar parents flew to Korea four days after we returned from Europe—they’re spending a month with my brother and his family to help with their three year old and meet their new baby!
Wow! Your parents are total rockstars! That's awesome. I'm sure the reconnection w/ your husband and the refreshment of being child-free is making your home happier this season, too. :) Next week I leave for a cruise with my sisters and mom, and I'll be away for 6 nights, which is a record for me since Z was born. Even though Robert will be home (and is 100 percent competent), I'm still nervous about being away that long! I know it will be good for all of us though!
It's going to be so good! I love seeing the extra dose of closeness being my husband and Chloe whenever I return from a trip. I hope you have an amazing time. Can't wait to hear about it!
GASP GASP GASP. This was everything I wanted to be and more. We just bankrupted our Marriot points on a trip to New York but now I know what we need to save for next ❤️ So happy you got this time together!!
Loved seeing these pics!! And Laura I spent ONE day in Brugge and let me tell you that place and monastery took a hold of me in a way very few places do. I could have stared at that place for days. Holy ground indeed. Now you’re making me want to plan a trip and stay there for days!!
Thank you for the tour! (I like people watching, too. The biker mom with high heels was the best!)
Thanks for reading!
